Take your love of computer games and interest in 3D animation to the next level, with one of the world's leading 3D modelling and animation packages. Topics include an overview of the interface, basic primitives where you will learn about 3D shapes in Maya, understanding basic 3D modelling, application of textures and colour, and animating.

Content
Break down the barriers to develop an understanding of the basics of Maya – an industry standard 3D animation package. Learn how to navigate the otherwise complex interface to quickly and start manipulating 3D objects. Gain an understanding of character and object modelling including adding textures and colour, and applying lighting effects enabling you to render a still image. Upon grasping the basics then start understanding the concepts of animating objects – learn the basics of facial animation blend shapes and morphing, then appreciate key frames and animation curves to render your animation.
Course Outline
| Session 1 | Introduction to interface Creation of primitives Manipulating basic 3D objects Editing 3D object components |
| Session 2 | Basic modelling tools Applying materials to objects (texturing and colour) Simple lighting Rendering still images |
| Session 3 | Fundamentals of animation Simple facial animation Blend shapes and morphing Key frames and animation curves Rendering animation |
